Dr Megan Newrick BPsych (Hons) DClin Psych, MAPS, FCCLP

Dr Megan has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Queensland. She has extensive training and experience in the assessment and treatment of psychological problems. Megan has experience in both community and private practice settings and has been working in private practice for over ten years.

Megan works with adults, adolescents and children aged 3 and upwards. She has a special interest in working with children and families and has been trained across all levels of the Triple P Positive Parenting Program. Megan has worked as a trainer both in Australia and internationally training other health professionals in this program. She is also trained in the Secret Agent Society Program for children between 7-13 years who meet criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Megan has a warm, supportive and collaborative approach to therapy, with a focus on ensuring clients meet their own personal goals. It is her aim to help her clients find relief from psychological distress and learn ways to overcome personal difficulties in order to live a more satisfying life. Megan provides individually tailored treatment guided by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy frameworks as well as motivational interviewing and solution focused therapy.

Megan’s doctorate research focused on the impact of parenting factors of post-traumatic stress in children following a natural disaster.

Megan is a registered Clinical Psychologist with Medicare and the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the APS Clinical College.

Megan is a resident of the local area and is the mum of two school-aged children.
